Highways Project Manager
Highways Project Manager, £40,000 - £50,000, Lewes, Sussex
My client is looking to recruit a Highways Project Manager to successfully manage the delivery of highway projects, ensuring project requirements, clients specifications and company objectives are fully met, and to develop and manage a highways team, providing advice and guidance to staff.
The successful candidate will join a large highways that team providing services for a number of clients mainly Highways Agency and Local Authorities. Current contracts include ECI contracts within the North West and South West, MAC commissions within the Midlands and North East, and Local Authority commissions including Herefordshire, Bedfordshire and Plymouth.

Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for highways project development and delivery, including managing key client relationships and winning new business
- Development and management of a highways team, including managing growth and technical/professional development of existing staff
- Management and motivation of employees in a way that encourages an inclusive approach and to harness the full range of qualities of our staff
- To ensure the protection of the health and safety of our employees and all those affected by our operations
- To ensure the customer is at the heart of all we do including the client, stakeholders and the public at large
- To act as the main point of contact with Client Project Managers
- Management of highways design projects, in accordance with relevant design codes of practice, standards and advice notes
- To ensure that the planning and management of activities is always focussed on delivering the best possible service
- Preparation and management of project programmes and budgets
- Delivery of sound and innovative technical and practical solutions
- Preparation of reports and scheme cost estimates
- Consultations including meetings with third parties and clients
- To comply with management systems and procedures
- To ensure that environmental considerations are given top priority in all that we do
- To deliver a service that continually improves
The Individual
They are looking for an experienced project managers with strong technical highways design related skills, who can actively manage and develop a growing team and interface seamlessly with clients.
Requirements
- Experience in the feasibility and preliminary design of highways schemes, including where applicable: major improvement schemes, traffic calming, safety schemes, junction improvements, cycleway schemes and local highway improvements
- Degree in Civil Engineering
- Chartered status or equivalent qualification
- Team management experience preferable
- Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Conversant with highways design software
