Job Purpose

The role is responsible for providing both the development and support of the Hastings SQL data applications and their associated architecture.

This includes overseeing the development and organisation of the informational data systems, the assessment and implementation of new technologies, and providing Information Technology with a long-term perspective on the relationship of database technology to the business opportunities facing the company.

Duties shall include both the development and support of stored procedures, ETL processes and data interfaces alongside OLTP and OLAP platforms to ensure technical solutions meet the business need and are delivered to internal and external best practices.

Required Skills and Experience

- Bachelor`s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required.
- Experience across the full software development life cycle
- Experience in applying data modelling techniques for the design and development of OLTP, data warehouse and OLAP data systems.
- Experience using the following Microsoft SQL 2005 - 2008 technologies in a development or administration role.
- TSQL
- Integration Services
- Analysis Services
- Reporting Services.
- Experience in designing and influencing enterprise level data architecture direction and technology standards.
- Experience with implementation of enterprise reporting tools e.g. Business Objects/Cognos.
- A background in performing in a database administration role for complex enterprise level data systems
