Environmental Manager
An opportunity has arisen in central Brighton for an experienced Environmental Manager. The main purpose of this vacancy is to identify and implement environmental practices and procedures in order to reduce the organisations overall environmental impact.
As the Environmental Manager you will identify legislative requirements that apply to the organisation. These requirements will be addressed by the environmental management system moving towards adopting ISO 14001 standards. This international standard contains management standard requirements based on the dynamic cyclical process of plan, implement, check and review. This process will provide the framework for the Environmental Management Policy in support of the National Core Standard for environmental management.
Main Duties Include:
- To promote awareness in effective energy use, environmental management, and encourage the recycling of materials
- To develop a carbon management strategy that is endorsed by the Board
- To protect the environment and provide improved environmental conditions
- To understand and publicise the benefits and cost savings from efficient energy usage, reducing water consumption, recycling of waste materials and improved environmental conditions
- To promote efforts to reduce wastage of heat, by improving engineering controls, continuing programmes of plant efficiency upgrades and to encourage the reduction of electricity and water consumption wherever practical
- To minimise the use of natural resources and new materials where practical.
- To develop a sustainable travel plan to be approved by the Board
