Trainee Sommelier Great Opportunity

THE ROLE
We are looking for a Trainee Sommelier to develop to the highest levels and qualifications.
This is an intense programmme that involves not just work based but significant time for self study. Progress through qualifications will depend on the individual and the aptitude and learning shown.
During the last two months of contract, we will support your search for the company and position best representing the next step in your career, with the help and experteese of relevant recruitment agencies and various industrys bodies.
DEVELOPMENT
We are passionate about training and the successful candidate will have the chance to attend numerous in-house training sessions.
Main training subjects are:
Customer Service
Complaint Handling
Wine & Spirits Level 1and 2
Stock Taking
Stock Rotation
Wine and Spirit List
Cellar management
Ordering
Wine Storage
Opening and pouring wines / spirits
Selling and Up-selling
Wine List development
Awareness of other departments
Food Preparation
Cocktails & Bartending Level 1 and 2
Formal courses:
WSet Intermediate
WSet Advanced
Basic Health & Safety
Foundation Food & Hygiene
Cellar Management
Dependent on Progress, other courses available are:
Court of Master Sommeliers Certified
Court of Master Sommelier Advanced
Various associations and guilds memberships will also be supported.
YOU
You will be very passionate about food and drinks in general, looking to build the right base to launch your future.
The role requires a pleasant personality that can adapt to a large array of guests and collegues, takes initiative and can manage their work time effectively, particularly when under pressure.
Loyalty and dedication to the company and a passion for improving standards will be expected by the successfl candidate.
Ideally you will have 1 or 2 years experience in the service industry, with a focus on food and drinks and will
have a new-found passion about wine which you thrive to develop in to something solid and accurate.
Membership of the Academy of Food and Wine Service Skills preferred, but not necessary.
All candidates must have the right to live and work in UK.
CONTRACT TERMS
18 or 24 months contract.
Starting salary £- National Minimum Wage
SALARY PROGRESSION
Progression of salary and the programme overall is dependent on satisfactory reviews and any objectives set being achieved. Salaries are not automatically increased in line with the above and may vary dependent on individual performance.
COMPETITIONS
The Company will submit applications for wine service/sommelier dependent on the progress of the individual. This aids development and broadens experience.
NB
Should an individual leave within 6 months of completing a course, the cost of the course will be repayable by the individual.
