THE HOUSE
The house is available from August 14th for up to two weeks. It can also be reserved for next year.

This is a place where you can enjoy simple living, our house is a rustic, lived-in, peaceful place.
We've gradually restored the first floor to make a light and comfortable space to be in, keeping all the original character and adding some things we've come across on our travels around Asia and other places.
A wide veranda runs the length of the house making a shady place to sit or play when the heat of the sun makes it too hot to run about outside.
You'll find plenty of books on travel, art and other subjects to read, there are lots of paintings on the walls and rugs on the floor. We have an eclectic mix of crockery in a spacious kitchen with a large fridge and cooker and a big family table.
The house can accommodate four people and a cot is available for a baby if you need one.
There is a double bedroom leading through to a shared/en suite bathroom with over-sized shower and roll top bath, and a walk through second bedroom sleeping two children with a bookshelf full of stories for young children. Bed linen and towels are provided (but please bring your own beach towels)
You can help yourself to fresh herbs and salad stuff from our organic vegetable beds near the house (depending on what's not been eaten before you get here.)

THE LOCATION
The house is tucked away in a completely private and peaceful location and the only traffic you're likely to see is the odd passing tractor, it is set in over 2 hectares of private land.
There are endless walks to go on, and ancient stone villages with crumbling castles to explore.

FOR CHILDREN and THINGS TO DO
Children will love the closeness to nature where they can let their hair down and run wild outside, discovering lizards and cicadas and collecting eggs from our five free range chickens. (who you have to remember to let out in the morning and put to bed at night in case the fox decides to visit.)
Our two friendly cats Tiger and Cloudy also need feeding (we provide the food) and stroking, they like to laze about on the veranda and do a great job of keeping the mice at bay.

Visiting castles and other medieval sites,
Visiting colorful local markets,
Restaurants and cafes,
Great place for painting.

BE WARNED THOUGH! This is not your average French holiday house with matching utilitarian white plates, T.V, wi-fi and dishwasher. We don't have a swimming pool either, (although there is a great swimming river and two outdoor pools nearby). There is a washing machine and there are plenty of plugs if you want to bring your own gadgets! You'll need to bring your mobile too.

HOW TO GET HERE
The house is located approximately a days drive from the channel ports and just over an hour from Toulouse airport. Rodez airport is around one hour fifteen minutes away and Carcassone airport about two hours drive.
All the airposts are served by discount airlines such as Ryanair and Easyjet.

HOW TO BOOK
The Rustic Retreat is available for rent by the week or for longer periods.
Changeover days are normally on a Friday. To make a booking or check prices and availability please email us or telephone.
Once we have confirmed availability, we'll send you a booking form to complete and send us with a deposit.

We're really sorry but we can't accept any pets as we feel that there are more than enough here already.
