They have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Principal Geotechnical Engineer to provide a leading role in ground engineering aspects of major projects within this established geotechnical team of a top UK consultant.

Job Description:

The vacancy is for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join their geotechnical team based within the Civil Engineering department in their East Grinstead office. 

You will be expected to provide a leading role in the geotechnical team, supervising and overseeing the work of teams including senior, engineer and graduate staff with technician support in preparing geotechnical design solutions for major civil engineering structures for highway, railway and other infrastructure schemes at preliminary, tender, and detailed design stages.  You will work with autonomy in providing geotechnical design input to selected projects within the framework of the overall team. You will be expected to lead design teams in the geotechnical discipline and provide guidance to more junior members of the team as required on a project specific basis.

Experience Required:

- Significant post-graduate experience
- Chartered
- Detailed understanding of major civil engineering projects and the role of geotechnics within them.
- Relevant geotechnical design experience
- Civil Engineering related degree, BEng level minimum
- MSc in geotechnical engineering
- Chartered through the ICE
- Capabilities in a range of geotechnical analysis software for foundations, retaining structures and slopes
- Thorough understanding of geotechnical design principles and their relevant applications
- Experience with main contractors on major Design & Build projects, particularly in soft ground tunnel and underground space design
- Familiarity and use of Euro codes and other international design standards preferable
