Transfer Incentive Scheme
If you are a council tenant in Brighton & Hove, you can earn up to £3,500 for moving into a smaller property. With generous cash payments available to those giving up larger properties, and a range of options available to make the move as cheap and painless as possible, there's never been a better time for a new start.

The Transfer Incentive Scheme (TIS) is for council tenants with one or more spare rooms who feel like downsizing, and for tenants who want to leave council housing altogether to find their own home in the private sector.

The scheme is also open to tenants living in wheelchair-adapted properties they don’t need. You could move to a new home and free up a property for someone who needs it.

If you register for TIS, the Under-Occupation Officer will make sure the whole process runs smoothly. You are under no pressure to accept any property you do not want and get put in Homemove band A, the highest priority. You can view as many properties as you like before deciding to move. A cash incentive ranging from £2,000 to £3,500 is paid if you move.
