HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE A COLONIC?

After this initial series of 2 or 3 treatments, it is usually sufficient to continue a maintenance programme of 1 to 4 treatments a year depending on individual choice and situation.

How often you have a colonic depends on your diet, stress levels and general health. The treatments themselves are only a start, a push in the right direction. What you do between treatments, your emotional health, how you change your diet and how you breathe and exercise, will play a major part in your self-improvement programme. Maintenance colonics can be done once or twice a year, at the change of the season, or monthly. Most people seem to know when they need to come again.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN A TREATMENT?

The first treatment will be an hour and a quarter so that I can take your case history and explain the procedure.

The colonic itself lasts approximately 35 to 45 minutes. During this time the colon is cleansed with warm filtered and purified water to aid the release of stored faecal matter and old deposits which are flushed away.


IS THE TREATMENT PAINFUL OR EMBARRASSING?

Although many clients arrive for their first session feeling nervous, generally they find the treatment, which includes gentle belly massage to help stimulate movement in the colon, a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. The treatment takes place in a very private environment, and your modesty is protected at all times. You will have a large bath towel to cover yourself on the treatment couch and wrap around you on your way to the toilet, which is right next door to the treatment room. At no time during the session will you need to walk through any public areas.


IS IT SAFE?

Yes - you will be in the hands of a professionally trained therapist (certified to by I-ACT - International Association for Colon Hydrotherapy). The insertion of the tubing is gentle, the introduction of the water is under low pressure and the water is close to body temperature. All tubing used is disposed of after one use, and all surface areas are cleaned and sterilised between treatments.

Although some of the "friendly" bacteria in your colon is expelled during treatment, the flushing out of the damaging "unfriendly" bacteria, yeast, and other toxins leaves a healthier and more balanced internal environment.

In general, if you have toxic build-up in your colon, as most of us have, the internal environment is not conducive to maintaining a healthy population of the good bacteria, and thus many of us have deficient levels of these important pro-biotics. After a colonic, the environment is in much better shape to repopulate with the good bacteria, especially if pro-biotic capsules are taken as recommended.
