apprentice trainee commis chef
This is a unique opportunity for a keen and enthusiastic trainee Commis Chef to join the team of a family owned British Bistro located off Brighton seafront. The Bistros menu includes daily specials and a la carte. Previous experience of working within a kitchen would be preferred but not essential.
The post includes 1000s of pounds worth of free, structured training and will lead to a recognised qualification. The successful candidate will be working as a trainee commis chef apprentice and be trained as a level two apprentice in Professional Cookery-Preparation and Cooking following the National Vocational Qualification structure. As an apprentice, you will be trained in all areas of the kitchen.

Your passion must include a love of food, a solid foundation in food knowledge including local produce and seasonal ingredients would be beneficial but not essential. You must be able to take direction and have a positive mental attitude, aptitude and savvy, with an eye for presentation and a delicate touch.
Your duties will include:
Food and Vegetable preparation to the highest standard
Assisting the kitchen staff in all areas
Dishwashing and some cleaning

Hours: Four out of 7 days including shift work in a busy kitchen.
As an apprentice, you will be part of a training scheme and exempt from the minimum wage and be paid a training allowance from £80 per week for a 37.5 hour week. Apprenticeships are part of a government scheme open for 16 to 24 year old's only.
